Ananya Bagchi was born in New Delhi, India, a city of rich cultural heritage and irresistible charm. She holds Bachelors and Masters degree in Japanese language and Literature. She has always been passionate about art and has been inspired by her numerous travels in India and around the world. Her main inspiration remains folk art from Bengal. 

Though Ananya enjoys painting landscapes, inspired by beautiful nature around the world, she has recently forayed into impressionist folk art inspired by her cultural heritage, depicting women wearing the symbol of beauty, the Bindi. Her paintings stand out due to the use of vibrant and bold colours. Her current series of paintings depict Indian women where the eyes are the main focus. The big, red ‘bindi’ which dominates the faces are a symbol of femininity as well as power. 

Mrs. Ananya Bagchi has recently started doing Tanjore painting as well. Her recent Tanjore paintings have been that of Krishna playing the flute and of Lakshmi. She is influenced tremendously not only the traditional and Folk art of India but also by her various travels and stays abroad wich are as varied as Peru, South America, Japan , Sri-Lanka or Croatia and now, Switzerland. She takes inspiration from various travels and countries and creates art in her own unique style.
