Biography: Deniz Akkuş Küçükçelebi (b. 1988, İzmir) is an artist based in Geneva. She holds a degree in International Relations from Middle East Technical University in Turkey and a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the University of Bonn, Germany. Before turning to her artistic practice, she spent over a decade working in humanitarian contexts with the United Nations, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Turkey. These experiences continue to inform her work, shaping a visual language rooted in vulnerability, and emotional suspension.
Her paintings attempt to give form to what resists verbal articulation. Figures are often faceless, paused, or dissolving to reflect the fragility of human identity, memory, and emotion. Working across acrylic, watercolor, ink, and oil, Deniz explores states of in-betweenness, where presence and absence coexist.
